2005 Results and Recap

EASTHAMPTON, GALBRAITH FIELD:  Approximately 200 people participated in the fourth annual Run/Walk for Tara to benefit eating disorder programs Friday morning. Held on the birthday of Tara Sheehan, a Southampton resident and runner who died of anorexia in 2002, walkers and runners enjoyed the cross country 3.1 mile course in sunny, 40 degree weather. Members of the Sheehan family welcomed the runners and walkers, thanking them for coming out to celebrate Tara’s birthday and raise funds to support eating disorder programs.  Well-known local runner Nancy Conz served as this year’s race coordinator, working with Janet Brown, Virginia Ahart and their team of 35 volunteers. All money raised by the race goes to the Tara Sheehan Fund to help people suffering from eating disorders.

Last year’s Run/Walk for Tara contributed $6000 to the Eating Disorder Program at the New York Hospital in White Plains, an affiliate of Cornell University, to purchase an EKG machine. This year, The Tara Fund will be making a contribution to Remuda Ranch in Arizona, an eating disorder program which cared for Tara in 2001.  If you would like to contribute, please send a check by December 1^st to The Tara Fund, c/o John and Maureen Sheehan, 127 Pomeroy Meadow Rd., Southampton, MA 01073.
